The Virgo (October) 2022 Moonth

This Virgo moonth starts during a Mercury Retrograde in the same sign. This is a time in which we likely have been getting new information surrounding our health and routine. Mars is in Taurus highlighting our need for resources. He will be going retrograde here just as he approaches the end of the sign keeping our focus on needing resources for much longer than usual. Mars only goes retrograde every other year and this retrograde will cause Mars to be in Taurus through most of March next year. This moonth and the next give us an opportunity to take what we have learned this retrograde and refine ourselves and our systems so that we can prepare for the coming Winter of Need (northern hemisphere). Take the time with you and yours to be honest with yourselves about what you actually need moving into this change of seasons so that you can focus your efforts efficiently.

Our Virgo Moonth starting with the new moon on September 25th

This new moon illuminates the necessity to refine and perfect our health and routine with added energy from Venus (values and relationships) and Mercury (our minds). You should feel a pretty strong focus here this moonth, especially coming off of what you have learned from the retrograde. With an opposition to Jupiter in Pisces, we are reminded to stay receptive and go with the flow. A trine to Pluto in Sagittarius offers support as our perception is transforming. With this new moon, I would encourage everyone to set intentions for an efficient season shift that is laser focused on what must be done to preserve the resources that you need.

The first quarter moon on October 2nd coincides with Mercury going station direct challenging us to begin implementing the shifts and changes that we must as a result of what we have learned over the past roughly three weeks. With the moon in Sagittarius, we will be challenged to seek new horizons. This can be literal or figurative horizons. For some, we may just feel that last chance tug to cross the threshold on our personal Hero’s Journey. This will likely challenge our values or relationships with a square to Venus, but there is support to our life paths with a trine to the North Node. A look at where the North Node is in your personal chart will illuminate how this will likely manifest in your life.

The full moon on October 9th in Pisces invites a status check on our intentions for the moonth as well as the last roughly six moonths. Look to any harvests, or lack thereof, with our spirituality and how we have been navigating the rough seas we find ourselves in. How receptive have we been? Are we still trying to swim against the current or are we floating along and grabbing at opportunities as they come along? This full moon is in opposition to the Sun and Venus in Virgo showing the need for balance between the practical and the etheric.

The last quarter moon challenge on October 17th in Gemini yet very near the Cancer cusp offers a challenge with communication, learning and exchange, likely with a security theme. This challenge is part of a T square to Pluto and Venus gifting us a lesson in transformation of perception and values. A trine to Neptune and Jupiter in Pisces offers support from the etheric flow. It could feel stressful here, but in hindsight, it will have likely unfolded as it should have.

The six month cycle of this new moon will prompt a status check in April with a full moon in Virgo. Set any intentions with this longer cycle in mind.
